Loss Control and Safety Services

Our comprehensive, customer-focused loss control services help policyholders minimize injuries, reduce claim frequency, and ultimately control insurance costs. Based on their in-depth knowledge of risk factors in many different work environments, SeaBright's safety and loss control consultants are experts at identifying risks and helping employers build safety processes that can reduce injuries by focusing on prevention and safety techniques. Depending on the size and exposure of the policyholder, services may include some or all of the following:

On-Site Evaluations: We analyze an employer's loss history and walk through facilities or project sites to identify risk-reduction opportunities and define loss control goals. SeaBright's analysis and recommendations lay the foundation for clearly written, organization-wide policies and procedures.

Loss-Control Service Plans: We help employers develop loss control goals and objectives and formalize them in a loss prevention plan based on critical needs, priorities, and scheduling parameters.

Safety Surveys: We collaborate with management and safety staff to develop and conduct surveys that indentify unsafe work practices or missing controls that might lead to accidents or injuries.

Risk Management: Our BrightView® Interactive Loss Information system helps policyholders manage risk and develop effective safety measures by generating detailed loss experience data, complete with business-specific filters for custom reports.

Safety Resources: To support our policyholders' safety training and research initiatives, customers have access to a library of more than 2,000 safety-related videos, an online resource library of training materials, safety meeting outlines, and safety updates; and our quarterly newsletter, "Risky Business®."

Our Performance Record

The longer that policyholders remain with SeaBright the lower their average experience modification (x-mod) rate, a calculation based on a company's loss history and a key indication of its workplace safety. On average, our policyholders' x-mod is 15 percent lower than the industry average at the end of their sixth year with SeaBright, which typically results in lower premiums. 1

SeaBright Resource Library

1 Based on SeaBright Insurance data from policyholders that have been with us for six consecutive years. Between the first year and the sixth, the x-mod rate dropped 10 points. X-mods are issued by the California Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau (WCIRB), a private non-profit organization designated as the statistical agent of the insurance commissioner.
