Safety Meeting Outline :: Positive Attitudes

Are you a leader or a follower, a loser or a winner? Which category you fall into is primarily determined by your attitude. All leaders and people with good jobs have positive attitudes. Although some may think that good attitudes result from good positions, the reverse is true – people get good positions because they have good attitudes.

How you feel about yourself is largely determined by how you feel about your job and the people you work with. If you don’t feel good about yourself, it is hard to feel good about other people.

Your thoughts largely determine what your attitude will be. If you feel good about yourself, you will have a good attitude. How do you develop a good attitude?

• Choose your attitude in advance. When you wake up choose to be positive about the day.

• See each day as an opportunity to get something done. Don’t procrastinate, improve yourself, feel pride in what you do.

• Be cooperative and helpful. Use teamwork to solve problems (it’s easier than doing it yourself).

• Forget past failures and concentrate on positive aspects of the task at hand.

• Be optimistic with a hopeful and cheerful outlook. Be anxious to do better.

• Use your abilities to the fullest. Try a little harder – remember “genius is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration.” Try a little harder – stick with it.

• Develop a winning attitude. Winners constantly improve themselves to stay on top.

• Visualize success. Self visualization is a key factor to having a positive attitude.

• Remember – most people will like you – unless you give them a good reason not to.

If you are not happy about things, take a look at your attitude – you might learn something about yourself.
